These Are A Few Of My Favorite Festivals... Foodie Edition (Toronto!)

With so many festivals happening throughout the summer months, it is understandably hard to pick out what you may want to attend. I have been fortunate to work with many of the main festivals in and around Toronto, and definitely have a few favorites that are a MUST attend in 2016!

We thought we would break it down for you over the next few weeks, showcasing a different style of event! Festivals for the Foodie Lover Festival, Arts/Culture & Special Interest Lovers, Sporting Edition and Music & Entertainment Edition.

In no specific order… here are my top MUST attend Foodie festivals and events in 2016!

Panamerican Food Festival – August 2016 – Daniels Spectrum

A one of a kind gastronomic event is taking over the heart of Toronto, one that promises to reveal the flavours of the Americas, local artists and talent. The festival will showcases the best of the best food products, celebrating the great cultural diversity of the 41 countries of North, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.

Second Harvests Toronto Taste – June 12, 2016 – Lakeside at Corus Quay

The 25th anniversary of legendary culinary event, Toronto Taste, presented by The Daniels Corporation, raised an incredible $850,000 for Second Harvest, which will provide 1,700,000 meals for people experiencing hunger in Toronto. Guests at Toronto Taste savored scrumptious dishes from 50 top chefs, a startling array of beverages and breathtaking lakeside views from Corus Quay. Thank you to everyone who supported Toronto Taste, and helped make it our most successful fundraising event in Second Harvest's history.

Taste of the Danforth – August 2016 – Danforth Avenue

The Krinos Taste of the Danforth is Canada’s largest street Festival, welcoming approximately 1.6 million attendees annually. From live entertainment, to all sorts of different foods (gyros, anyone?) you will find yourself getting lost in the excitement and atmosphere!

Night It Up! – July 2016 – Markham Civic Centre

Watch as an ordinary parking lot by day comes alive at night with the spectacle of market stalls, live entertainment, movie underneath the stars, midnight sports tournaments, along with a mini arts village for visitors to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of night time in the heart of Markham. Four words… Mini Watermelon Slush Drinks.

Taste of Little Italy - June 2016 – College Street

Little Italy on College was largely built by families who emigrated from Italy before and after World War Two and made College St their home. Small, independent businesses sprang up offering authentic Italian products that would readily be found in the piazzas in small towns in Italy. The Barilla Taste of Little Italy offers cuisine including the renowned Italian Ruffino Wine, Galbani Cheese, crafted in

the Italian tradition, music and a great time, all al fresco along College between Bathurst and Shaw

Toronto Ribfest – June 30 – July 3, 2016 – Centennial Park

100% charity fundraiser. 100% volunteers. Help Rotary reach our goal of $500K for the community. Enjoy fabulous food, attractions your whole family can enjoy, great music, a Kidz Zone, a massive Midway, entertainment on three professional stages and lots more.

Oktoberfest – October 2016 – Ontario Place Parking Lot

Dig out your lederhosen and dirndls and join us for Toronto’s only authentic Oktoberfest party! Inspired by traditions started in Munich, Germany over 200 years ago, Toronto Oktoberfest brings a taste of Munich to the City as it captures the essence of authentic food, drink and merriment.
